    Slice one transaction into multiple categorized lines: e.g. a $400 Costco run becomes $250 office supplies + $150 personal groceries. Just type the amounts. Each line goes the same direction as the original, so an expense stays an expense. Use a minus only for a line that runs the other way, like a fee inside a deposit.     What you use

    Turn parts of Neo-Capital on and off. Anything you switch off leaves the sidebar, the menus, and every other place the app offers it: dashboards, the Report Center, exports, the cleanup checklist. Your records and reports are never touched, a figure with a real balance behind it still shows, and the pages stay reachable from Search. Turn it back on here whenever.

    What do you sell?

    This decides which return your books are built around, and whether you owe self-employment tax. Not sure? Most solo owners are a sole proprietorship.

    Fiscal year & accounting method

    Which month your financial year begins, usually January, and usually the same as your income-tax year. You'll pick the date your books start in this program on the next step.

    This drives your tax figures. Your management reports can be read either way from a toggle on each report.

    When do your books start?

    The date this program starts from, not the shape of your fiscal year, which you set on the previous step. You'll enter opening balances as of this date.

    Branding & look

    Your logo and accent color appear on invoices, statements and PDF reports. The theme and chart style are how the program looks to you.

    A reporting dimension (location, department, segment) that slices your P&L. Rename or retire them on Chart of Accounts → Classes.

    Tracks this charge as it repeats: each new one is matched to it when it lands, and you are told if it changes price or stops. Nothing is posted, and this transaction is not categorised by it.

    Subscription: software, memberships. Other recurring charge: ads, rent, utilities. Both are recurring expenses under Recurring → Expenses; the Subscriptions tab shows subscriptions, and the others too when you include them there. Not an A/P bill; nothing is owed or posted.
